By all accounts, the 2019 LC to DC event (Leadership California Goes to Washington), Sept. 22 – 25 at the Mayflower Hotel was a tremendous success and received rave reviews by the 40 delegates who participated.
Amazing presentations were featured by Susan Page, Washington Bureau Chief, USA Today; Allida Black, Professor, George University; Noelia Rodriguez, Chief of Staff, Metrolink; Lyndsey Ford, Brookings Institute and a panel on “Advocacy in America.” Delegates were treated with a special evening at the beautiful and historic Mexican Cultural Institute including a fantastic reception and empowering remarks by Ambassador Martha Bárcena.
Congresswoman Jackie Speier spent 45 minutes with the group detailing her many years developing policies to advance women’s interests. A first for LC to DC this year was an empowering time with members of the International Women’s Forum – DC Chapter for a networking lunch and lively panel discussion around equality issues from East to West.
Delegates also experienced inspiring and memorable visits to Symantec for behind the scenes look at the largest global security firm; Women’s Military Service Memorial to learn about the significant contribution that women have made serving our country; a moving time at the National Museum of African American History and Culture and a visit to monuments by night.
Leadership California thanks its 2019 LC to DC sponsors and committee led by Former Leadership California President and EAC Member Debbie Manning (’02).
Special thanks to our generous LC to DC program sponsors.
